Great news this week, after some stressful weeks, our next task is to obtain a Cloud certification, which is great because is less stressful than creating a full stack project and stress because of errors.

We started by choosing a certification, I chose the Google Cloud Platform — Associate Cloud Engineer because I like the cloud of Google and as an Android Developer, I think it has more possibilities to integrate with Android projects than other clouds. Also, I had previously taken GCP courses so I know a little about how things work at Google Cloud, and I think this is an excellent opportunity to reaffirm my path in Cloud and strengthen my knowledge.

To begin with the certification path, I started by doing some research about it on the official page, which is an excellent place to start because it contains a lot of helpful resources for getting certified.

This site has a particular site with a really interesting course to start in Cloud and prepare for the certification exam. It also contains a guide with questions to practice.

Besides these courses, we were given access to the Coursera course for this certification, which integrates a lot more courses about the features of the Cloud, like infrastructure. In this course I’ve learned about what is an Associate Cloud Engineer and according to the course:

An Associate Cloud Engineer deploys and secures applications and infrastructure, monitors operations of multiple projects, and maintains enterprise solutions to ensure that they meet target performance metrics. This individual has experience working with public clouds and on-premises solutions. They are able to use Google Cloud Console and the command-line interface to perform common platform-based task to maintain and scale one or more deployed solutions that leverage Google-managed or self-managed services on Google Cloud.

Throughout this course, I’m learning about all the platforms and services that Google Cloud offers and how they work. From what I’ve learned until now I know it will be useful for me not only as an Android Developer but also as a Software Engineer, I love that with this opportunity I can even change my career to a Cloud-based role, which is something that everybody uses and it interconnects so many technologies so it’s really exciting.

Aside from the certification, the second task is to present “Lightning talks” which are small talks in which we have to talk about what we’ve learned from the certification. This is cool because I think one way of learning is sharing with others, also, this helps others to see your point of view about certain topics and they can learn from you how things work.
